This morning around 11:45 I spotted a Red-Shouldered Hawk north of Iowa City, along Newport Rd. NE (F8W) across from Oak Ridge Trail NE, roughly .7 mi. from the intersection of Newport Rd. with Prairie Du Chien Rd. NE. It was perched on a utility wire and as I pulled over to get a better look it flew into a nearby tree, from which it was promptly chased by a Red-tailed Hawk. I had a great view of it both perched and flying, even though silly me I had no binoculars with me.
