I took a drive out to the Brenton Arboretum as well as a new wetland just
west of Grimes this morning. Highlights:

Brenton Arboretum:

7500+ Snow Geese (flyovers and a conservative estimate. The flock was large
enough to get my kids to put down their video games voluntarily and check
them out. :-) )
~75 Ross's Geese
4 FOY Eastern Meadowlarks

Walnut Creek Wetland (3 miles west of Grimes on Highway 44 and then turn
north on W Ave for about a mile, and then take a left onto 230th St and the
waters on your right)

15 Species of waterfowl
2500 Snow Geese
40 Ross's Geese
400 Greater White-fronted Geese
4 American Wigeon
2 Greater Scaup
Lesser Scaup
Redhead
Gadwall
Green-winged Teal
Ring-necked Duck
Northern Pintail
Mallards
Canada Geese
Northern Shoveler
Bufflehead

Good birding,
John Bissell
Grimes
