I hiked along the dike in the rain this afternoon at about 1:00. Song
Sparrows are far more numerous than last week. I group of 20 or so were on
the dike, along with 10 or so Lapland Longspurs. A Great Blue Heron was in
the marsh. Ducks were as follows (more or less, many escaped ID):
Greater White Fronted Geese: about 150 in three separate flocks
Canada Geese- 20 or 30, mostly in pairs
Hooded Mergansers- about 10
Bufflehead 4
Ringneck 11
Lesser Scaup-14
Northern Shoveler- 15
Mallards: about 50, several flocks and lots of pairs
Gadwall- 20 or more
Green Wing Teal- 6
