We had a new yard bird at our house in eastern Boone County this afternoon - a gray partridge. . We'll be watching for any breeding/nesting activity.
Last year I cut down a dense thicket of mulberry trees that left a big area covered with branches. Providing at least temporary shelter for pheasant, quail and now partridge.
