Apologize for not giving location in previous post - the Waterman Creek
GBH Rookery is in SE O'Brien County a mile south of county blacktop B40
on White Ave. The rookery is on private property but can be seen easily
from the gravel road - best/closest view is approx 3/4 mile south at the
top of the first rise. Early morning is the best time to see the most
birds, they disperse during the day and take their time coming back
during the evening.
Baring bad weather (early spring damaging winds/hail/blizzards/etc) the
numbers may keep rising for the next week or two. The most 'active'
nests we have witnessed in the past 12 years have exceeded 36, however
you could count over 60 nests some years in the tree tops. Counts and
viewing are mostly lost by leaf-up in late April/early May.

Counted 56 Herons on the Waterman Rookery this morning - its been too
windy for birds in the trees the past couple days and this a.m. was
the first I've seen birds back in the nests and tree tops for a couple
days.
I've been watching the Re-tailed Hawk nest in the far north tree of
the rookery but not seeing activity this a.m. - I could be looking at
the wrong times, perhaps the hawks are still there, maybe not? The far
north tree had herons in it this a.m. but none on the hawk's nest.
A pair of Red-tails were copulating on the fence posts across from our
mail box last week so I'm presuming they are still in the
"neighborhood"...will be watching the rookery nest as best we can to
see if they are still nesting there.
