I tried Soas 2 beta (dated 14 A0ril 2009) burned onto a CD. X
windows does not start on the C3 based laptop.

I get a login prompt and then when I try ´śtartx´ there are some
messages ending in
"fatal server error
 no screens found"

The CD works fine on other machines. So it is no go for this machine.

I have been wanting to work with Debian/Ubuntu for a while and this
seems to be a good time to try it.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry for the delay in getting back to the
list - my CD writer died and spoilt a few CDs before I figured out
what the problem was.
