OLPC is as far as I know, still recommending 8.02 for the OLPC XO 1.0. Martin Langhoff is working on a revision of this build with a number of bug fixes. Plans for a Fedora-11-based upgrade, with Sugar 0.84 or 0.86 seem to be stalled at the moment.
