Hi, GNOME has created a mailing list for discussing their strategy in the developing world. Sugar is closely based on GNOME technologies, Sugar Labs is represented in their advisory board, and their community has been very receptive to our needs, so I think we have an excellent base for cooperating. Also, OLPC is shipping both GNOME and Sugar in their last hardware release.
So if anybody wants to discuss how to best promote GNOME in developing countries, that will be a great forum for that. One of the GNOME Foundation's high level goals is to work harder to increase the visibility, promotion and usage of GNOME in the developing world. This mailing list will provide a forum for people with an interest in developing a stronger GNOME presence in the developing world. Topics will likely include ways to reach out and promote GNOME in regions with limited access to technology, solving particular needs in the developing world, and promoting more humanitarian efforts within the GNOME community. If you have an interest in participating, please subscribe and join the discussions!
