Get them to write a few programs in Etoys, Scratch or TurtleArt -- beginners
can
accomplish important things and get important insights in about half an hour in
these environments.

There is an element of "how do you want to learn to kiss?" here ...

Cheers,

Alan

Subject: [IAEP] Programmers in 30 minutes or less

This link was circulating over the weekend: how do you explain computer
programming to a 15 year old in 30 minutes or less?

http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/84866/30-minutes-to-explain-programming-to-a-15-year-old

What I like most about these answers is that they should work even when
time is short and kids already use computers at home. There are some quick
exercises and thought experiments to help understand code in a way that
everyday computer use shields us from.
