Hi Folks…

Lots of exciting things are being planned for SCaLE 12X this year and, if you
can be in the Los Angeles area Feb 21-23, you will want to be a part of the
fun. Here is a link to the website which is continually being updated with new
and interesting things.

OLPC and Sugar Labs, along with OSSIE SoCal, Unleash Kids, Internet in a Box,
and other affiliates will be having a double size booth in the exhibit hall on
Saturday and Sunday this year. Some of you have already made some excellent
suggestions about things to have in the booth. I'll transfer them to a Google
doc where you all can use the link below to go there and add your ideas to help
make it a success. Here is the link…. there isn't much there yet, but there
will be soon!

In addition to our booth, in a moment of madness, I volunteered to organize a
new event at SCaLE, a "Coders' Corner." There will be some fun volunteer
opportunities there too. Watch for another email about that in a day or two.
For now, if you are able to volunteer for the OLPC 2.0 booth at SCaLE 12X,
please sign up on the schedule at this Google Doc.:

We will need a minimum of 2 volunteers in each time slot. Each time slot is 2½
hours and includes a 30 minute overlap for the “changing of the guard.” To
cover all slots adequately, we will probably want you to sign up for 2 (a total
of 4½ to 5 hours).

Be kind to yourself! Leave time between your shifts so you will have a chance
to visit the other exhibits and attend some of the sessions. Volunteers who
sign up for 2 shifts will qualify for a FREE SCALE 12X registration that will
admit you to most sessions, the exhibit halls, and the fun evening events on
Friday and Saturday.

Ed and Caryl Bigenho will be working in the booth during part of the first and
last time slots but since they will also be setting up and opening and closing
the Coders’ Corner, so they will need to divide their time accordingly. Their
names don't appear on the schedule, but they will be there.
The coders corner sign-up and planning docs will come along in a day or two.
Hope you can join us!Caryl
