Hi Folks!

Coders' Corner will be a new event at SCaLE12X this year and you are invited to
have a part in its planning. This needs to be a friendly, non-threatening place
for people of all ages to get acquainted with coding and discover the fun of
making something with code. All ages and levels welcome!

We will have about 10 XOs available that can run several different programming
Activities. To keep it simple, we will probably stick with just 2 of them,
Scratch and Python (a tutorial version called "Pippy").

Hopefully, we will have at least 2 laptops that can run Codecademy so that we
can introduce some HTML/css with the little programs they developed for the
recent Hour of Code ( http://www.codecademy.com/learn ). If you have a laptop
you could loan for the Coders' Corner please let me know. It has to to have an
up-to-date browser.

You don't have to attend SCaLE to get involved! If you would like to help plan
Coders' Corner, please go to this link and add your ideas:

If you can join the fun as a mentor there on either Saturday or Sunday, please
add your name and info to this Volunteer Schedule:

One other idea to think about… perhaps we could have some sort of group coding
project in the Coders' Corner that would run for both days where people would
drop in and contribute their skills. Is there anyone out there that would like
to get involved in something like this? Share your ideas for a project like
this on the Coders' Corner page.

I hope to hear from many of you in the next few days.

Thanks!
Caryl
