For AAPG Student Chapter Members: Peter Lloyd, a very distinguished geologist and former resident of Jakarta, will conduct an extended tour of Indonesia on Sept 1-8. Peter serves as President of the Asia-Pacific International Region of AAPG, and he was recently elected to the position of Vice President of AAPG. Peter will visit students from all 9 universities with AAPG Student Chapters on this tour.

GEOSCIENCE CAREERS IN THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY: "The Quest for Energy - Rewarding Careers in the Oil and Gas Industry". World Energy needs, the process of exploring for and producing oil and gas, key elements that form a petroleum system, and comments on preserving the environment through wise management of energy resources. 2. TECHNICAL PAPER: "Chasing Channel Sands in South East Asia" talk. This is a more advanced treatment of exploring and producing heterogeneous reservoir systems by integration of seismic, log and image data using geological models as a guideline. This was presented last time I visited Bandung and Yogyakarta just after the Bali conference in 2000. 3. ACQUIRING AND KEEPING THE SKILLS TO EXCEL IN A GEOSCIENCE CAREER: "Technical Skills Needs, Assessments and Technology Transfer," a paper co-authored with Dr. John Kaldi and presented in China earlier this year. A detailed assessment of the profiles that are in demand in the oil and gas industry, along with a description of how training and professional development are addressed during a geoscience career.
