Fee: IPA Members US$750, Non Members US$850. (including round trip airfare Jakarta - Sumatra, ground transport, food and lodging within Sumatra and hand out) Capacity: 25 participants, not more than three participants from any one company or organization. Field Trip Outline: Participants will fly to Padang, West Sumatra, to study outcrops which from the syn-rift section of the prolific Central Sumatra Petroleum System. The field trip gives the participants the opportunity to see some outstanding outcrop geology in rarely visited scenically attractive areas of Sumatra. Participants will be able to study in detail a thick exposure of lacustrine source rock (The Brown Shale), together with fluvial to deltaic sandstones which in the subsurface comprise highly productive reservoirs. Finally there will be the opportunity to study recent lacustrine systems amid the magnificent scenery of the Barisan Mountains.
