The tsunami that hit Southeast Asia, Kenya and Somalia on 26 December has shocked the world. The damage done to people and goods is enormous. This disaster must also have affected families and friends of our alumni. At ITC there has been much distress about the welfare of family, friends and relations in the affected countries. Our thoughts and sympathies go to all affected people. The solidarity of staff and students with the terrible disaster is expressed by a number of initiatives for ITC actions that have been proposed. A poster presentation is set-up in the central hall and a successful mini-seminar about tsunamis was organised for ITC staff and the Enschede community. Today ITC will open a Tsunami Disaster Information website at: www.itc.nl/tsunami On this site we bring together links to a number of websites with relevant data and map products. We hope that these links can assist those of you involved in post-disaster damage assessment and other reconstruction activities in getting quick access to relevant geographical information. Any requests for specific geo-information products or other services where ITC might be able to assist can be directed to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
