cordially invite you to the

*WORKSHOP ON PETROLEUM SYSTEM OF SULAWESI*

*2-Day Geological Discussion & Field Trip*

Friday-Saturday, September 15th-16th , 2006

* *

*OVERVIEW*

Sulawesi is a unique island with 4 island arms creating "K" shape. Each
arms have shown different geological setting and tectonic event. Various
plates interaction followed by multiple tectonic and volcanism has made
litho-stratigraphy in this area become a complex one. In other hand, the
complexity of Sulawesi geological setting provides many natural reserves
potential e.g. minerals, coal, and also hydrocarbon.

There are at least 14 Tertiary sedimentary basins have been recognized in
the vicinity of Sulawesi area, but only 5 of the basins ( *Bone, Sengkang,
South Makassar, Lariang, and Banggai*) have been explored and only 2 (*Sengkang
and Banggai*) so far has been producing hydrocarbon.

The 2006 block tender that has been announced in August 15th 2006,
offering 41 blocks around Indonesia and 12 of the blocks will be in
surrounding Sulawesi area (Tender/New Acreage Blocks: Karama, Malunda,
Mandar, Sadang, Lampung-1, Sageri, South Sageri; Tender/Available Block:
Enrekang; Direct Proposal Blocks: Kuma, Budong-budong, Karana, Buton).

This workshop aims to give a preliminary explanation and basic
understanding for participants in getting various information about
Sulawesi's geological setting which related to its petroleum system
development. In other hand, the participants will have a chance to visit and
make several description in sediment outcrops which surely will give a real
condition and some petroleum system features that might be related to 11
offering blocks in Sulawesi area.
