Menurut Menteri ESDM cadangan minyak INDONESIA masih 9 Milyar Bbls (nun jauh
dibawah ..., dibawah umahe wong liyo..), Jika produksi rata-rata 1-1,2 juta
perhari, Masih sekitar ada 20 tahun lagi. Semetara kontrak KPS zaman bauhela

utk menaikkan produksi nasional ? Apakah government sudah punya short- and
long-term strategy to face this issue ? Kalau ya, apakah make sense ? Dan
masih banyak lagi pertanyaan. Ini lebih penting ! Saya pikir tadinya IPA
2007 lebih difokuskan ke sini, tapi kelihatannya masih belum juga.

Just a comment.

Thanks. Iman

Plenty of oil for future, says Exxon Mobil
Angela Macdonald-Smith

Bloomberg

ADELAIDE — The world has an "abundance" of crude oil and is not in
danger of running out any time soon, said Mark Nolan, chairman of the
Australian unit of Exxon Mobil, the world's largest publicly traded
oil company.

So far, the world had produced one trillion barrels of an estimated
more than 3-trillion barrels of conventional recoverable oil
resources, Nolan said yesterday at a conference in Adelaide, citing
the US Geological Survey.

Technological advancements would also help extend the life of oil and
gas fields and allow more discoveries, he said.

Oil prices have more than doubled in the past three years and reached
a record of $78,40 a barrel in New York on July 14 amid concerns about
supply disruptions from the Middle East and Nigeria. Exxon's view
differs from that of so-called "peak oil" theorists, who argue that
world oil production is at, or close to, its peak and is set to fall
even as demand continues to rise.

"The world has an abundance of oil and there is little question
scientifically that abundant energy resources exist," Nolan said in an
address to the Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference. "The world is not
in danger of running out of oil any time soon."

Oil for October delivery was $65,88 a barrel in after-hours trading on
the New York Mercantile Exchange yesterday.

Total, Europe's third-largest oil firm, expected global oil output to
peak as soon as 2020, CEO Thierry Desmarest said in June.

The Paris-based International Energy Agency said in the same month
that output would meet demand until 2030.

Estimates of resources of heavy oil and shale oil added a further
trillion barrels to the world's recoverable oil resource, Nolan said.
Also, the global oil industry could recover almost twice as much oil
from fields today than 100 years ago, he said.

"When you consider that a further 10% increase in recoverability will
deliver an extra 800- billion barrels of oil to our recoverable total,
we have reason to be sure that the end of oil is nowhere in sight,"
Nolan said.
