Pukul 10:35:26 WIB sejam yang lalu terjadi lagi gempa kuat 7.1 Mw di lepas pantai baratdaya Pulau Sipora, dalam gugusan Kepulauan Mentawai. Kelihatannya yang ini merupakan aftershock gempa tadi pagi di 140 km BD Sungaipenuh.
Melihat sebaran gempa utama dan gempa susulan, kelihatannya ada dua gempa utama, yaitu : (1) gempa utama Bengkulu 12 September 2007 (8.4 Mw) pukul 18.10 WIB dengan aftershocks sedang bergerak ke utara lalu ke utara baratlaut, kekuatan 5-6 Mw/SR, dan (2) gempa Sungaipenuh 13 September 2007 (7.8 Mw) pukul 06.49 WIB dengan aftershock menjauhi lagi Pulau Sumatra bergerak ke BL. Semua gempa ini dangkal, di laut, dan bermagnitude rata2 di atas 6.0 SR, dan berdasarkan historic moment tensor solution-nya didominasi thrust. Maka, semuanya berpotensi tsunami. Penduduk sepanjang pantai barat Sumatra dari Bengkulu sampai Sibolga sebaiknya dihimbau untuk waspada sejak hari ini sampai beberapa hari ke depan. Berikut gempa terbaru di lepas pantai Sipora.
