*Evaluating and Developing*

*Coalbed Methane Resources*

*IAGI WORKSHOPS 2011*

*HILTON HOTEL BANDUNG, 19th-21 st April
*

***********
*

*About The Workshop:*

*The 3 days workshop is design to help attendees to assess CBM exploration
and development*

*Instructor: Imam B. Sosrowidjojo PhD*

*Duration : 3 Days Workshop*

*Workshop Level : Intermediate*

*3-opportunity. The workshop will learn the key defining characteristics of
coalbed reservoir, acquiring and integrating data as major parameters in CBM
evaluation.*

*It also describes methods and challenges for exploring and developing the
CBM recourses. Some of the materials presented are resulted from experience
of what works and what doesn’t. The workshop includes interaction with the
instructor through discussions and exercises. At the end of the workshop,
attendees are expected to be able to define prospectively CBM resources*

*You will learn:*

 *Fundamental compositional parameters of coalbed reservoir*

 *How to measure gas in coal and its implication*

 *How to evaluate CBM resources*

*Who Should Attend:*

*This workshop is meant for people who are interested in a better
understanding for evaluating and*

*developing CBM resources. Professionals who would benefit from this
workshop include*

*geoscientists and engineers and their managers*

*Workshop Contents:*

 *Introduction*

 *Origins and types of coals*

 *CBM systems*

 *Coalbed reservoir properties*

 *Measurement of gas content*

 *Element of CBM deals*

 *Volumetric calculation*

 *Assessing Risks*

 *Pilot project philosophies*

 *Exercises*

*Workshop Instructor:*

*Imam B. Sosrowidjojo PhD. is a senior principal research scientist of both
geochemistry and unconventional gas technologies for LEMIGAS. Imam has been
appointed as Project Director of the first ever Coalbed Methane (CBM)
Development in Indonesia (2003-2007). He has held various professional
positions within LEMIGAS.
*

*
*

*He is a project director as well as pilot project designer of the first CBM
field in Indonesia, the Rambutan field. Imam obtained his first degree in
Chemical Engineering from the Diponegoro University, Central Java, Indonesia
and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Geochemistry from the Curtin University of
Technology, Western*

*Australia. He has join Lemigas for the last 29 years continuously. He
conducts research and consulting in petroleum exploration & production
geochemistry and CBM and shale gas developments. In addition, he wrote
numerous technical reports and several articles on petroleum geochemistry,
petroleum system and CBM exploration in Indonesia.*
