About The Workshop: 

The Geodesy is a part of GeoSciences group as Geology and Geophysics. The use 
of Geodesy in practice is the determination of position. All geospatial 
information is based on the geodetic position Therefore the practical geodesy 
is a part of Geomatics.  The development  of science and technology in Geodesy 
and Geomatics such as GPS technology, Remote Sensing, GIS  and the earth 
gravity model are modern tools that used for Oil & Gas Industry started from 
exploration following by exploitation activity.

 

As part of Geodesy, hydrography presented as Bathymetric Map play a significant 
role in the process of  Oil and Gas Exploration. As we already know according 
to the history of hydrography, the purpose of hydrography at the beginning 
mostly for navigation, but now days almost all activities in marine sectors 
need hydrography.

 

You will learn:

After completing this workshop, you will be able to understand on System 
Coordinates used in Geodesy

Geographic coordinate in both absolute system and local system; 

3D Cartesian coordinate in both absolute system and local system; 

2D Cartesian coordinate system; 

The difference  of geodetic height (GPS height) and the height above the geoid 
(the ideal sea surface);

GPS and earth gravitation model solution for the determination of gravity value 
at the earth surface

Hydrographic Science and its development.

How to use the bathymetric map as one product of Hydrography in Oil and Gas 
Exploration works and to overcome the problems you may be faced.

 

Who Should Attend:

Geodetics / Geomatics Engineer, Geoscientists in the Oil and Gas Industry who 
need information how to solve the problems related to geodetic positioning, 
both related problems in local and national system, and also hydrography are 
recommended to attend the workshop.

Investment Fee:

IAGI Member: IDR 22,850,000 / participant; Non Member: IDR 23,350,000 /

The workshop fee includes meals (2x coffee break and lunch), training kits, 
training materials, group photograph, and certificate. In order to allow

INSTRUCTOR:

JOENIL KAHAR:

He holds his PhD degree from ITB, he has experiences in the field of Geodesy 
and Geomatics started after he received his Geodetic Engineer degree in 1964, 
as junior lecturer following by lecturer/senior lecturer and Professor of 
Geodesy, ITB (1987-2003), in the Department of Geodetic Engineering, Bandung 
Institute of Technology.  He has also served as Research Fellow at School of 
Surveying, the UNSW, Australia (1978), Visiting Professor at Graduate School of 
Environmental Studies, Nagoya University, Japan (2004). He has also served as 
Head of Department of Geodetic Engineering (1973-1977), Vice Dean of Faculty of 
Civil Engineering and Planning (1977-1978), Acting Head of Department of 
Geodetic Engineering (1982), Vice Rector of Student's Affair (1985-1989), Vice 
Rector of Administration (1989-1993).

 

In his professional career, Dr. Joenil Kahar is currently involved in Geomatics 
related issues. He is currently Chairman of Indonesian Geomatic Council 
(2003-2011, February) He has also served Head of National Coordination Agency 
for Surveys and Mapping/BAKOSURTANAL (1999-2002), President National Committee 
for IUGG, The International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (1999-2003), 1982 – 
1998: Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science,  Member National 
Research Council (1999-2004), ITB's Research Coordinator with Delft Institute 
for Earth Oriented Space Research (DEOS), Delft University of Technology, 
Netherlands (1995-1999). 

 

SJAMSIR MIRA:

Sjamsir Mira is a retired Professor at ITB. He holds his Dr.-Ing degree at the 
Bergakademie Clausthal-Zellerfeld (now Technische Universitaet 
Clausthal-Zellerfeld), Germany in 1966. He wrote more than 60 papers including 
16 papers presented abroad, traveling abroad more than for attending Seminar, 
Conference e.t.c. (52 times) and involved in more than 30 Hydrographic and 
Topographic projects.

 

Some of his jobs more or less related to Hydrography and its development are 
Head of Geodesy Department, ITB (1967-1972), Senior Lecturer at Universiti 
Teknoloji Malaysia (1973-1975), Head of Expert Group “Hydrography”, ITB 
(1981-2004), Member of the “F.I.G./I.H.O. International Advisory Board on 
Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors” (1987- 1992), Convenor of 
the “First International GALOS (Geodetic Aspects of the Law of the Sea) 
Conference”, in Sanur, Bali in 1992, Director of Marine Research Centre, ITB 
(1993-1999), Head of Private Higher Education Institution Association, East 
Jawa and Banten Province in 1997, and Rector Institut Teknologi Nasional 
(1995-1999).
