FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS Introduction The Seventh Symposium on Agricultural Sciences 2005 (SAS-2005) is organized by the Indonesian Students in Japan who are members of the Indonesian Agricultural Sciences Association (IASA). Many issues on agriculture and biochemical engineering have been discussed at the symposium held in Tokyo (1997); Tokyo (1998); Tokyo (1999); Chiba (2000); Tokyo (2001); and Tsukuba (2002) by various scientists and researchers for their findings in better agricultural and biochemical management strategies especially to support the planning program of the national development of Indonesia. Theme: The theme of SAS-2005 is "Food and Environmental Safety for Sustainable Agriculture". Time and place: The 7th SAS-2005 will be held on March 5, 2005 in Tokyo University of Agriculture, Tokyo-Japan. Objectives: The aims of 7th symposium are to: 1. Educate and share information on food and environmental safety and their influence for sustainable agriculture and the National agriculture exports program. 2. Encourage interaction between scientist of relevant disciplines to discuss their various on going and future researches. 3. Contribute to effective and sustainable environmental management. 4. Improve the quality of food and environmental safety for the better strategy in the National agricultural exports program. Participants and Areas of interest: It is invited for those who concern in agricultural sciences and biochemical engineering to submit their paper to the committee of the 7th SAS-2005. Original papers and posters on the following areas are invited. 1. Crop production and nutrition 2. Crop protection 3. Biotechnology 4. Land use 5. Post harvest technology 6. Food processing 7. Animal husbandry 8. Veterinary 9. Aquaculture and Fishery 10. Environmental Science 11. Medical Plants 12. Agricultural Economy 13. Social Science 14. Bio-sciences (Botany and Zoology) Language: English will be the official language used throughout the symposium. Important Date: Deadline for Abstract : January 31, 2005 Deadline for full paper (oral presentation): February 15, 2005 Posters, Special Sessions and Tutorials: Suggestion and proposals are welcome and should be submitted to Secretariat no later than December 15, 2004. Any papers and posters that deviate significantly from guidance, or are not received by the deadline, will be rejected without considering the merits. All accepted papers and posters should be presented at the meeting The second circular, providing more detailed information on the schedule, registration, and accommodation, will be announced before December 2005.
