Thanks for your reply.  Basically i am setting up a context within our org so 
that all the tools
will be deployed there.  So my base framework has ibatis configured for it as 
the DAO Layer(uses
SQLMaps).  I had a requirement for reading a clob and also writing it to the 
Oracle database(ver
8.1.7). 

I am a bit time crunched.  I am implementing the normal way or using JDBC 
directly.  Once i finish
the initial version i will want to implement it in IBatis.  I will surely start 
this conversation
in this forum again and also try using oracle 10g driver.
