This patch set has a "backport" of the dmi-based module autoload patch that applies cleanly on 2.6.20 (and should work just fine in 2.6.21 too), and a patch to thinkpad-acpi to use it.
Please test and comment. Seems to work fine here with a new thinkpad, but I'd appreciate a report from an older thinkpad that uses the BIOS ID match...
