So I was mistaken and found that there is an event for tablet mode but you
need to fold the screen fully back round for it to be registered, I was
testing in 'tent mode'.
$sudo evtest /dev/input/event9
Event: time 0.0, type 5 (EV_SW), code 1 (SW_TABLET_MODE), value 1
There are issues with unwanted logging of unhandled HKEY events but they
are trivial and I may provide a patch to fix them.
