>From what viewpoint? Remember that time is NOT universal according to
Einstein and this has been validated by experiment. Therefore, to some
observer, it is entirely possible that the Universe is only 6,000 years
old. Say, somebody at the bottom of a very strong gravity well. Or
somebody who "has a need for speed" as they say.

We still run OS/VS COBOL load modules. We have FINALLY converted to VS
COBOL II, but use the VS COBOL II run-time. Why do that?!? you ask? I'll
tell you. Because if we wanted to start using LE. Then every program
would need to be retested under LE by the programmers, then by the Q/A
people. Every program would need to have its output validated because
IBM has stated that changing the run time __may__ change even without
any source changes. We don't have the time. So we "piddle along" doing
the minimal necessary.

We finally have some Enterprise COBOL programs going. Why? Because the
programmers needed the XML GENERATE verb to interface with a Microsoft
product called BizTalk.

You've never heard of the "Flat Earth" society?

I just couldn't resist the off-topic replies. Hopefully they were
redeamed by the on-topic explanation that I keep getting as to why it is
"impossible" to convert to Enterprise COBOL. Curiously, although doing
that was "too much work", converting the entire zOS application
structure from z/OS, CICS, and VSAM to Windows, MS SQL, and .NET
applications was seriously considered late last year, and not considered
"too much work".
