Hello Franz Josef, I tried to imply that my ESCON attached PCs are not running SERVER code. Actually they run a propietary program, but the ESCON card in the PC is not part of that program.
What exactly do you get as you bring the CHPID online to z/OS. Does the path get validated. Does the device come online. All this is even before you activate VTAM or IP device usage. Have you reviewed the logs on your pc. Do you only have one LPAR? Is your CHPID dedicated to that LPAR or shared? In my case, when more than one path is oing to be used, the PATH does not get validated and the device will not come online.
