I think you can use
DEL bad_old_dsnname.GnnnnVnn FILE(DDNAME) NVR CAT(MCAT_name)
without defining the missing UCAT.
I didn't try the above but tried DEL ... FILE() NVR without alias defined - no success.
Now I have no object to play with.
