Try the DFDSS keywords MAKEMULTI and VOLCOUNT

Here is an example

/SYSIN DD *
  COPY DATASET(INCLUDE(XNTD.CVDS.T000825.D020709, -
                       XNTD.CVDS.T171659.D020704, -
                       XNTD.CVDS.T005345.D020709, -
                       XNTD.CVDR.T090530.D020507, -
                       XNTD.CVDS.T040414.D020704)) -
     MAKEMULTI VOLCOUNT(*) DELETE PURGE -
 OUTDYNAM((SMSA203),(SMS204),(SMS205),(SMS206),(SMS207),(SMS208))

Subject: sms & dfdss restore

I have a large file on one dasd pack that was dumped using dfdss without
sms on one lpar. I would like to restore this file on two dasd packs
using
dfdss & sms on another lpar. How can I do this? I keep getting error
msg:
igd17288i about how the file could not be allocated normally & is not
eligible for space constraint relief (multi volume) because it is a
single
volume data set. sms is not set up with dataclas or mgmtclas - only
storclas
