Sorry if this is a silly suggestion - SDSF LOG will display not only the open
syslog, but will merge (in front) any closed syslogs that are now left on the
spool.

What happens if you go to the end of the syslog and then type SDSF command 'L
1'? (this positions to top of currently open syslog)

Maybe check that your previous ones have actually gone out to your BETA product
and have definitely been purged from the output queue? (they should have
jobname of SYSLOG and will be on held output or output queue).

Again, sorry if you already checked this or if I've missed the point.

Brian

Subject: SDSF "endless" syslog

Hello all,

we are running z/OS 1.6. Perhaps unknown to us, we are now using the
SDSF syslog from 05103 to today (05145). I am informed that in the
past this was not the case, i.e. a new syslog was written to BETA at
midnight and a "fresh" syslog was available on all systems.

The syslog is still being written at midnight, but no "fresh" syslog
is being created e.g. 05145 - 05145.

We are a Sysplex shop using a shared MAS.

Does anyone have any ideas?

TIA
