I never saw a 3494 - nor heard of one until you mentioned it. The architecture certainly was developed with the thought that more than one member of the family would ultimately exist.

The 3290 was the newest "real 3270" that I've seen in the Poughkeepsie development labs and was the only one that I've needed to confirm that we didn't regress IPCS's support for VSPLIT. You certainly know more about more recent 3270s than I do.
