Did you mean after 30 days of nonuse or a flat 30 days? HSM will delete
a dataset without a backup if the appropriate fields in the management
class are set.
The DFSMSdfp Storage Administration Reference explains all of this. Also,
the storage group must be set correctly so that HSM is managing the
volumes.
