The crater on the moon is named after a monk named Hell. Some Japanese cities starting with "Fu" can be read very close to what you might fear. When our database is international, we have to consider foreign words. Same thing for passwords. I worked on a Vax one time where they had an English language database that they checked passwords against. A friend was French, so she had no trouble getting around it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some people or addresses have names which are spelled the same way as foreign language obscenities. Plus, some people putting in fake names or addresses will enter "funny" phrases. (the law firm of "Dewey, Cheatm, and Howe"). Data cleansing is not an easy task. The data entry operators in the Caribbean don't really read the addresses, they just type real fast, copying letters instead of words. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
