I received no responses to my SMCS query (guess it was an "uninteresting
post"), but here is what I've discovered in the meantime.
Chapter 8 of the IP Configuration Guide "LU Assignments Based on
Application Name" says (after defoliation):
If you want to code this:
RESTRICTAPPL SMCS
USER DAVE LU DAVE
Then your TELNETPARMS must contain one of the combinations:
TN3270E
SIMCLIENTLU
-or-
NOTN3270E
NOSIMCLIENTLU
... each of which has side effects you'll have to tolerate. I had
allowed both TN3270E and NOSIMCLIENTLU to default, which combination
causes the "No LUs available now, please try later" message that I
complained of earlier.
