And that's precisely my problem. Not all vendors are as enlightened as IBM. I
have doc from several vendors that is available only in PDF format. Actually,
if Bookmgr files were available, I wouldn't even be trying to serve the PDF
versions. In the past, I have put these PDFs in MVS datasets and served them
from the z/OS web server, in a directory separate from the BookServer
structure. That works, but it's a pain, because it's nicer for users to be
able to go to one central starting point for all doc.

Now it seems that yet another Certain American vendor is abandoning bookmgr
format and providing only PDF documentation for their new releases.
(Personally, I hate that decision, but this probably isn't the time to re-open
the Bookmgr vs PDF debate). I would like to be able to put these PDFs in MVS
datasets, because I hate messing with the z/OS HFS stuff (maybe another
religious debate). And I would like to be able to include them in the
BookServer Library, so users don't have to remember to go to one site for some
doc and a different site for other doc.

So, if I have a bunch of MVS PDFs, without corresponding BOOK datasets, can I
include them in a BookServer Library? If so, how? I assume they would need to
be in an extended shelf. Can I build an extended shelf, either in an MVS
dataset or an HFS file, that points to MVS PDF datasets?
