and ALTLIB is of limited use.
What is the problem with ALTLIB?
If you are in ISPF, ALTLIB seems to get reset/dropped when you cross
ISPF Application boundaries, esp. if the ISPF applications are
themselves using ALTLIB to access application EXEC libraries. Since
there are all sorts of products under ISPF some of which use their own
APPL name and some not, some of which use ALTLIB interfaces and some
not, all with no visual indication to the user, from the end user's
perspective any ALTLIB he manually sets appears to get lost randomly and
frequently.
In ISPF ALTLIB is useful within internal interfaces to ISPF applications
where the APPL interface is known and can be controlled. It isn't
useful if the intent is to permanently allocate a user EXEC library for
the duration of the logon. For that purpose, you are better off
dynamically reallocating SYSPROC or SYSEXEC and concatenating your EXEC
library before or after the other libraries.
