BSAM/QSAM files do not, in general,  have blocks of identical size,
even for RECFM=FBS.
 
I regret having written my sentence with insufficient parsing, thus  allowing 
it to be interpreted to mean that I believe all QSAM files, e.g., have  all 
blocks the same size, which I certainly do not believe.
