You won't gain anything by trying to make a more efficient IEFBR14. But that isn't your goal. We don't have any business needs to have IEFBR14 run. What we have are needs to do stuff such as delete datasets or set switches or other stuff. If you want efficiency here, you need to analyze the real stuff that that IEFBR14 step is designed to accomplish.
