Has anyone totally scrapped the idea of 'version based' MF backups driven by SMS Management Class and switched over to a typical open environment backup methodology in their MF environment?
I know certain products easily facilitate this type of backup. And I know I've read conversations here pertaining to shops which use Full volume + Incrementals for DR type backups. But in browsing the archives I did not find anyone stating that they had totally eliminated the SMS driven, file level backups using HSM or CA-Disk type products. Doing so feels as if we would be walking away from SMS somewhat. However, I can see advantages to aligning my MF backup methodologies, file level backups anyway, with that of the open environment, with the number one reason being that it makes it easier to understand for the users. Has anyone gone through the process? Thanks.
