Certainly the socket connection is a common protocol but using a port number other than 515. The required port number can be found in the printer manual. For defining a lpr printer you need only the ip and a printer queue name. You mean the dataset allocated in JES OUTPUT Queue, whose status can normally be viewed in JES only. Sun
