That would be overkill. FlashCopy copies, DSS copies are just too big, even after compression. Do you suggest to copy whole volume, or database to remote site ? It is too big amount of data (of course it depends on the shop), it is definitely batch process (non-continuous), so I'd vote for PTAM in this case. Regarding to original thread: yes, it is possible to transmit non-sunchronous remote copy traffic over IP. Bandwith should be greater than average update activity.
