That would depend on your workload. If the smaller mainframe had
adequate computational, I/O and memory capacity, then I wouldn't
expect any technical problems. However, check with your software
vendors as to licensing issues; it might turn out that they charged
you more to run on a more recent box even if it was smaller.

Absolutely. In fact, the best way to avoid being bitten is to plan for
the worst, unless you work for a company where you will be punished
