Think of a "cash register" whose user interface now consists of pictures of all the different kinds of burgers, drinks, desserts, French fries, etc. It's dumbed down from the point of view of the type of employee who can use it [1], but it's smarted up from the point of view of bottom line profit for the fast food franchise owner.
