From the web site demos, EJES looks very good. Much, much better than
FLASHER.

Did I dream this, or did Ed J. say he uses SDSF as an API in EJES(2)?

No. You didn't dream that!

When we first wrote (E)JES/2 (now known as the (E)JES workstation component -- a free (E)JES feature), the host (E)JES product supported JES3 only. So we approached IBM and convinced them to add some (E)JES-like functionality to SDSF that would allow (E)JES/2 to use it as a host Operating System Interface (OSI) for JES2 environments.

The results of our cooperative effort were SDSF's Advanced Function Display (AFD) mode, new print commands such as XDC, XSC, PRINT FILE, etc., and some other miscellaneous improvements Though not as full-featured as their (E)JES counterparts, those (then new) SDSF capabilities provided the (E)JES/2 OSI translator with the minimum required interface to use SDSF for the purpose described.

Of course, that was a long time ago. These days (E)JES (including its workstation component) natively supports JES2 environments.
