Ed,

You seem to be very critical about Share, when I know you haven't been there for at least the last 5 years, if ever. I suspect that your going to Share is probably not an option, but You might want to go there before you criticise them again.

Having gone to Share myself twice now, I do have one criticism. I like to go to z/OS and related sessions mostly. The problem is there always seems to be times when there are 10 great sessions I really want to go to early in the week during some time slots, and then later in the week I can't find anything during some time slots.

I wish I was there in Boston, but I'm not. Hopefully my next employer will let me go.

While I agree that SHARE has been around 50 years. I think its also wise to point out that IBM help let GUIDE die. Guide was really the only user group (IMO) that would not let IBM run rough shod over the user community. SHARE on the other hand is a pale ghost of what GUIDE used to be.

I have written before on SHARE participation (and probably why people do not want to get involved). I would only hope that SHARE would realize how they are poisoning the membership and get behind a more voluntary membership involvement.. If SHARE wants to succeed they must get membership involvement. Every so often asking for it, sort of indicates that the members know what is going on and don't want to get involved. SHARE needs to open up.
