Subject: Future ISPF directions (was: Re: How Was Share?)

laughed at my jokes, and I began my next SHARE-based crusade (out with
Dynamic ISPF, in with multiple logon). I had a fantastic time at this
Had to look up Dynamic ISPF at:

Very interesting; thanks. What are the chances for multiple logon?
Can it be achieved with little initial IBM support, as was Dynamic
ISPF? (Or, with reasonable accommodation, similar to OW45623?)
I did not present Dynamic ISPF at this SHARE for the first time in like 10
SHAREs. I haven't had to modify the session in two years, so like Dubya,
I'm declaring victory. We've won. IBM and vendors now largely support
Dynamic ISPF, so whereas in the past we were swimming upstream, we're now
going with the current.
Multiple logon is here now, with caveats. We're trying to resolve the
issues we know about. Check out
http://www.naspa.com/PDF/2004/0504/T0405002.pdf to get started. Also check
out Mark Zelden's site http://home.flash.net/~mzelden/mvsutil.html under the
JOBs/Doc link. Pull up the Bit Bucket presentation on the SHARE web site to
see the stuff I just posted.

o Some users prefer the familiar environment of native ISPF
over any workstation editor, even those that attempt to
emulate ISPF.
Amen.
o The ability of an edit macro in a workstation editor to
interface with the native z/OS environment is sorely
limited.
??
o IBM's support for ISPGUI is dwindling; it appears to be
Functionally Stabilized.
It doesn't appear to be, it is.
o The ISPGUI screen is simply ugly. Users largely would largely
prefer TN3270 style rendering of 3270 data streams on the
workstation.
Absolutely.
