Rob; DFHSM allows you to migrate the dumps datasets very agrresively if you code MC and SG properly.
Also, don't try to save dasd space for dumps bacause there are cases when an error is not easily recreable. I have 10 3390-9 for production dumps, even the SG was defined with 20. Wasting space?, probably, but I least I don't have to deal with complaints. Nowadays, in a shop like mime with near 22TB of DASD Space, up to 200GB for dumps is nothing.
