Q1. 3494 Library installation. According to manual IP address for remote access is set by CE. Does your CE configure this address ? Q2. 3494 installation report. Do you get any written information from CE, i.e. Library ID or other ? Q3. Microcode updates. Do your CE update microcode as they are released, or it is never installed, or this is extra-paid option ? Q4. Microcode for Shark 800 Turbo2. AFAIK there is an update which allows emulation of 'mod-54' volumes as it is on DS8000. Is it paid feature or just micrcode, which can be installed by CE ? Q5. Do any general rules exist in written form ? >> Q1. Private LAN, CE has a sheet and a plumb bob. Most of this is covered in SAPR. Q2. Same as Q1. As SAPR is reviewed all interested parties get one. Plus one for offsite. Q3. Microcode updates come with the service. Up to the customer to decide when. CE should provide impact assessment, requisite APARs and time required. Usually on uCode cover letter. IBM has tightened up(a good thing) in the past few years requiring hardware to be at certain levels by such and such a date. Q4. uCode and PTF Level sets. Covered in PSP. Also a capacity issue, size of 8 packs. Due to configuration requirements DS8000 requires 4x8 upgrades. Q5. Standard service agreement is pretty vanilla. Mostly OSHA and ISO requirements. IBM will provide trained service and respond within terms of the contract. Usually clause for space and storage requirements for spare parts and manuals. In the olden days there used to be escalation clauses for branch and area involvement but haven't seen one in years. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
