I'm just implementing our chosen Control-D replacement now. We picked
$AVRS after reviewing the below options. It was the right solution for us
because we did not need the report distribution functionality, just the
joblog/syslog accumulation functions, and the cost was right.

JHS, Job History System, Systemware
JSF, Job and Syslog Facility SysJob, MacKinney
ASC, Automated Sysout Capture, Chaney Systems
CA-JMR/SMR, Compuer Associates, Joblog Management & Retrieval, Syslog
Management & Retrieval
SRS, Shareware, Dave Danner's SAPI application
CHEW, Shareware, CBT-tape file 172, Cartwright's Housekeeping External
Writer
RYO, Roll Your Own, Using SAPI interface for coding
Control-D, BMC
$AVRS, SEA, Sysout Accumulation Viewing and Retrieval System
CA-View, Compuer Associates
ViewDirect-ABS, Mobius, formally InfoPac
Tivoli Output Manager, IBM
PageCenter, Levi, Ray & Shoup

One funny note I have to share. When I published this list of reviewed
software with my recommendation, a couple people in the management group
reviewing it actually had to ask me what "roll your own" meant. After
explaining, I was told that probably was not appropriate and I should call
it an "in-house built system". Since then, I think I've seen that phrase
used half a dozen times in trade rags, and even funnier, I noticed that the
connivence store on the skyway level of our main office actually sells the
rolling paper!
