I know you can order a z900 (have not checked on z990, z890, z800, or z9)
with a reduced height feature.
z900 servers can be ordered with height and width reduction shipping
features:
Specify Feature Code 9978 - Reduced Height Shipping Feature is available to
reduce the
shipped height of the processor frame. This may be necessary to facilitate
moving the
machine through doorways that are 2032 mm (80 in) or less. When this feature
is ordered,
the tops of both frame A and frame B (if present) are removed and shipped as
separate
pieces. The front and rear covers of frame A are also shipped separately.
Specify Feature Code 9979 - Reduced Width Shipping Feature is available to
remove
frame B from frame A to allow for passage through doorways less than 915 mm
(36 in)
wide.
Consult your marketing representative before requesting either of these
feature codes.
IIRC the z900 came with a very nice ladder which our CE allowed us to retain
as well:-)

Subject: Re: STK Equipment too tall.
When we installed a 3081-D, we didn't discover that the pieces would not fit
through the 5th floor computer room door until the day we brought them up
the elevator (where it did fit).
They had to cut an opening in the wall.
They had to pay a carpenter OT to do it, plus a fee to get him in on Sunday.
Later, it was set up as an extra delivery door.
