Obviously z/OS is more advanced than UNIX. Why? Because z/OS contains UNIX (and is so branded, officially, by X/Open). So, if one thing contains another thing as a proper subset, then the supersetting thing must be superior to the thing which it is a superset. Right? <grin>. Oh, and may I point out that Linux (every variant) is not UNIX? It is not so branded. It has not passed the certifications, to the best of my knowledge. Therefore is cannot be called UNIX. It is a "UNIX-like" system. Neither is it POSIX compliant as it has not been so certified (again to the best of my knowledge). Of course, I'm being the pendant again. And just to let people know, I really __LIKE__ Linux! -- John McKown Systems Engineer IV IT Administrative Services Group HealthMarkets(r) 9151 Boulevard 26 * N.
