If all of the DSN's associated with that tape are deleted HSM will not mount
the tape during recycle. Specifically this means *ALL* dataset including any
preceeding or trailing datasets that span volumes are also "deleted".

If the prior volume in the chain has a spanned dataset (the last dataset
associated with the prior volume "spans" to the current volume) it must also be
recalled, recovered, etc. to remove this volume from the chain.

To determine if the volume is part of a chain: HSEND LIST TTOC SELECT(FULL).
There will be some columns headed "PREVVOL" and "NEXTVOL". Use these to check
for chaining.

HTH.

<snip>
Would the tape need to be mounted if the RECYCLE command be issued?  If so then
there would be a problem because the tape is in 2 bits.
